A NIGHTCLUB manager who failed to call the police after a customer was stabbed, and mopped up the crime scene because drinkers were walking through blood, faces having his licence revoked on Tuesday.
Police have called for a review of the licence for Festac in Holloway Road following the incident in January and another in November last year, when a group of youths believed to be under 25 – the permitted age for the club – left the premises late at night and proceeded to have a fight in a nearby off-licence.
Licence holder Akinyele Afe admitted to the council and the police that he did not have working CCTV at the time of both incidents, as he should have done. Last week the council gave him a caution. Now, however, the police are calling for the licence to be completely reviewed.
On Tuesday, Islington’s licensing committee will also be told that the council’s noise team is also asking for the licence to be reviewed. They will tell the committee that in December Mr Afe told the noise team that he had offered to put up residents – who have made numerous complaints about late night noise – in a hotel overnight, so they should stop complaining about noise.
