Ibadan horror forest: Police vows to apprehend culprits


The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 11, Femi Omolaja has promised that the Police would do everything to apprehend all those behind the evil perperated at the Horror Forest, where scores of human skeletons, skulls and decomposing and mutilated body parts of dead bodies were found last Saturday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
AIG Omojola spoke yesterday when he visited the horrific site, whose demolition was stopped midway on Wednesday following a directive from Abuja.
His words:”Thorough investigation is ongoing and we don’t want to disclose any identity of those arrested in order not to hinder our investigation.”
But angered by the latest “operation kill mad men” going on in the city, where a number of persons have either been lynched or burnt to death after being suspected of being kidnappers or ritualists, Omojola warned the public to desist from taking laws into their hands.
He advised that any suspected person, mad or not, should be reported to law enforcement agents for proper investigation and prosecution if found guilty.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oyo State command, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor, also condemned the mob actions currently going on in the state where mad people, suspected to be ritualists were being lynched. She disclosed that so far, 10 mad men had been rescued, while two had been killed.
AIG Omojola, however enjoined residents of Ibadan to be wary of suspicious movements within and around their locality and report such.
According to the police boss, who is in charge of Oyo, Ogun and Osun states, the demolition of the forest which was stopped mid way on Wednesday, was necessitated by the need to allow forensic investigations. He assured that after the investigations, the demolition exercise can go on.
