Speaking at Police interacting session with 22 Political stakeholders in Akure, the State INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Fakorede said the electoral body had put necessary things in place to ensure free and fair poll.
According to him, the Commission would by next week Tuesday paste the voters register in all the 395 polling units.
He added that INEC would make use of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the South Senatorial district of the state which comprises six local governments.
The new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Isaac Eke assured al political parties of providing enabling environment for the election.
Eke also assured that the Command would deploy adequate security personnel from other states to complement the efforts of his men in order to provide adequate security coverage.
Besides, the Commissioner requested that all political parties submit to the Police details of their public rallies or meetings in any particular area in order to enable the Police provide adequate security.
His words, “All political parties are requested to take necessary steps to coordinate their campaign activities to avoid holding rallies or demonstration close to one another. Whenever the date, venue or timing of activities of different political parties clash, their representatives will meet to resolve the issue amicably without resort to intimidation, force or violence.
“We are advising you not to resort to the use of inflammatory language, provocative actions that will incite violence, hatred, contempt or intimidation against another party or candidate. All political parties are free to campaign for votes but this should be done in conformity with the laws of the land”.
