Ondo State Police Recover Stolen Range Rover, Parade Suspected Criminals

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday said it recovered a stolen Range Rover from some suspected car snatchers.

SaharaReporters gathered that the stolen SUV belongs to one Napoleon Isaacs of Agape Christian Centre who resides in Akure, Ondo State.

It was learned that Mr. Isaacs, a car dealer, was beaten mercilessly by the criminals before the keys to the vehicle were forcefully taken from him.

Femi Joseph, Ondo State police public relations officer, said that the Range Rover, which is worth millions of naira, was sold by the culprits for N800,000.

Mr. Joseph explained that the victim was attacked by the gang of armed robbers numbering about six along Akure-Ilesha Road while returning from Lagos.

He disclosed that the police nabbed two suspects, Ezenwa Raphael and Chukwudi Omruma, in connection with the stolen vehicle at separate locations in Ogun and Lagos.

He revealed this while parading the two culprits alongside some other suspected criminals before journalists at the headquarters of the police command in Akure.

“Mr. Isaacs was coming from Lagos to Akure with his brand new Range Rover jeep, a 2007 model, and a BMW jeep, 2005 model, both vehicles yet unregistered, when the hoodlums waylaid him at gunpoint and robbed him of the two vehicles,” he said.

While police were able to recover the Range Rover, they have yet to find the BMW. According to the police spokesperson, police are searching for the vehicle and other members of the gang.

In a related development, police arrested two robbers who stole a Nissan Almera from one Ifanegan Isaacs at his residence in Olafenwa Quarters in Ilu-Titun, Okitipupa Local Government Area in Ondo State.

“The gang robbed him [Isaacs] at gunpoint of one Nissan Almera and also carted away the sum of N90,000,” Mr. Joseph told reporters.

He added that another culprit identified as Chukuma Okoko was also nabbed with a locally made pistol after robbing a salesperson working for the Neto beer distributor company along Oyemekun Road in Akure.

Mr. Joseph said the command would not relent in ensuring that criminals sabotaging security efforts are rooted out of the nooks and crannies of the state.

He urged the public to provide the police command with useful information that could potentially lead to the arrest of criminals in the state.
