Akanji made the promise on Tuesday in Osogbo in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
He said that both the National Broadcasting Commission and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria had always been in the vanguard of fair hearing.
“As the governorship election approaches in Osun, the Corporation is aware that there would be increased political activities from the parties, individuals and stakeholders.
“It is a period when professionalism must be exhibited by all concerned in the effort to contribute to the political development of our state and country.
“We are appointees of the state government, but the media outfit belongs to the people and we are just holding it in trust for them.
“It is natural that political parties and aspirants would want to reach the people through our various channels, and we should naturally oblige all stakeholders,’’ he said.
Akanji warned that the Corporation would not entertain, encourage or promote the usage of political materials that did not conform to broadcasting guidelines.
“Media outfits are not supposed to be arena where political disputes are settled.
“We will also discourage the use of abusive materials on air.
“Politicians and political parties are to sell their manifestos without ridiculing one another,’’ he said.
