The police in Ezeagu, Enugu State, have arrested three women allegedly involved in child theft.
Two of the women are from Awha Imezi and Oyofo both of Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State while the third is from Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo.
A statement from the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu police command, Mr Ebere Amarizu, said in Enugu on Friday that the suspects were arrested for selling a five-year-old-baby.
The statement alleged that the child was stolen from a yet-to-be-identified person in Egbeda, Lagos State, on March 3.
It said a yet-to-be-arrested prospective buyer had agreed to pay N500,000 to secure the child.
It also alleged that the suspects stole another baby from Ichieahamba village in Abia on March 5.
The statement said the police recovered the child from one of the women who wanted to sell him for N600,000.
The police said investigation had commenced into the incidents, adding that the suspects were already helping the operatives in their investigations.
The statement said the two baby boys were hale and hearty. (NAN)
