Rainstorm Destroys 50 Buildings In Ogun State

rainstormRainstorm has destroyed about 50 buildings including four schools in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, rendering over 100 persons homeless.

The rainstorm, which allegedly lasted for about 10 minutes, left building roofs pulled off and fences pulled down in the ancient town.

After an inspection tour of the affected places, the local government chairman, Mr Olaide Emiola, said the process of rehabilitating those affected was being considered in order to reduce the effect on the people

“The rehabilitation of the affected remains the first priority of the government. We will need about 30 million Naira for the exercise,” he said.

Those affected have started gathering the bits and piece of what remained of their once cherished property.

They have appealed to the government for assistance, as the burden seemed beyond what they can bear alone.
